Specific details are the easiest things for an AI tool to get wrong, and the most costly if they slip through. A quick check against the original is worth the minute.
What to do
- Go back to the original document, website or record for every figure.
- Recalculate math yourself or with a calculator, not by asking AI to repeat it.
- Confirm people's names, titles and company names by spelling and role.
- Keep a note of where you verified each item.
An example
An AI summary lists a project budget as "$48,000." The spreadsheet says $84,000. A transposed number could have gone into a proposal.
Label copy
For small labels: Check every name, number and source.
For water-bottle labels: Names, numbers and sources are where AI slips most. Check each one against the original before it goes into a document, email or decision.
